Get Good Quality Plastic Greenhouses

If you’re planning to buy a plastic Greenhouse then it is important for you to ensure that you’re getting good quality plastic greenhouse. There are mainly two types of plastic greenhouses are available in the market today – polycarbonate panels and polyethylene covers. Each one has its own pros and cons, and quality vary greatly between the two types of materials. Here we will discuss about how to make a good choice with plastic greenhouses and how you can make a great decision with your buying decision.

Polycarbonate is a kind of engineered plastic that unlike glass or acrylic is virtually unbreakable. Polycarbonate plastic is generally used in bulletproof windows, compact discs, and eyeglass lenses. It is extremely lightweight which about one sixth the weight of glass is. The main disadvantage of polycarbonate is that it’s more expensive than glass and or acrylic. Polycarbonate panels are more often used in constructing greenhouses because they can be made crystal clear to look just like glass, but with far less weight and much more durability. Unlike glass, you won’t need to take worry about polycarbonate panels scratching, cracking, or shattering. This is the reason they are widely used for building plastic greenhouses.

Polyethylene covers are the second option used for building plastic greenhouses. Greenhouses with flexible covers that stretch over a frame can be either permanent outdoor units that are fixed to the ground or temporary use units designed to be set up and taken down, as needed. This property provides to set up greenhouses for a specific part of a year which is very much beneficial.

The most important factor to consider when looking at greenhouses with polyethylene covers is the UV stability of the material. Due to its nature, polyethylene is highly reactive to ultraviolet light. It means that an untreated sheet of polyethylene left in the sun would quickly break down, possibly totally disintegrating within couple of months.
