Some Quick and Easy Tips on Maximizing the Space of Small Greenhouses
Doesn’t it seem as if there are many tips and ideas these days when it comes to maximizing small spaces? From taking advantage of wasted space under a staircase to reorganizing closets, making the most of what you have is a great idea for any individual or family. Maximizing the space of small greenhouses is also imperative so that you can make the most of your affordable structure.
While many people find that small greenhouses are a bit cramped for what they want to do inside, if you take the time to plan your space you may find that even the tiniest of structures offers all the room you need. Just like taking advantage of unused closet space or organizing the things inside can make it seem roomier, organizing those small greenhouses and thinking of how to better utilize the space you have can make all the difference in the world.
One good thing to do with small greenhouses is to store your equipment elsewhere. Things like hand trowels, gardening gloves, watering cans, and extra pots and soil can take up quite a bit of precious workspace inside. Many who purchase small greenhouses make sure they get a plastic storage container that can be set right outside the door of the Greenhouse and that will hold all their accessories. This way everything is very conveniently located and protected from the elements but is not getting in the way of your plants and flowers.
Using all the available space inside is also important when planning small greenhouses. Most greenhouses use a long bench or shelves that are table height and that might have another shelf underneath. But can you put shelving in just about any reachable area of small greenhouses. You may not want to put another line of shelves along all the walls if it blocks your view and the sunlight of the plants underneath, but you can put up individual shelves here and there so that you can keep more individual plants inside.
Some people would like to use their greenhouse as something of a sunroom or sun porch. Obviously this is more difficult with small greenhouses! You probably don’t have any room inside for lawn chairs or anything else. However, small greenhouses can be used as the backdrop for a nice seating area if you put your lawn chairs outside and do some landscaping on the exterior of your structure. Dressing up the exterior makes it feel that much more welcome. Move some of the larger potted plants to the outside and open the vents when you want to sit and relax so that you get the scent of your flowers.
And one last bit of advice about small greenhouses – make sure you remove dead flowers and plants so that you have room for live ones. Be selective about the plants you keep inside and don’t try too hard to resurrect the ones that are just taking up precious space!
